The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially commenced the 2026 Direct Entry (DE) registration exercise. The ePIN vending and registration closed Saturday, 25th April 2026. The form costs โ‚ฆ5,700 and registration can only be done at State and Zonal JAMB offices nationwide.

What is Direct Entry (DE)?

Direct Entry allows candidates with higher qualifications โ€” such as A-Levels, HND, NCE, or First Degrees โ€” to gain admission directly into 200 or 300 level in Nigerian universities, bypassing the usual 100-level entry. It is an alternative route for candidates who do not wish to start from the first year.

Minimum Requirements

Candidates must have a minimum of 5 SSCE (O'level) credit passes at not more than two sittings, with at least two at the Principal or Advanced level.

โœ… Accepted Qualifications in lieu of A'Levels: First Degree (Nigerian & Foreign Universities), University Diploma, National Diploma (up to 2024 intake), Nigeria French Language Diploma, National Arabic Language Diploma, Higher National Diploma (HND), NCE, A-Level from IJMB/JUPEB/NABTEB, Cambridge A-level, International Baccalaureate (foreign only), Foreign GCE A-level, Trans-national Foundation Certificates.

Important Rules for DE Candidates

  • โœ“DE candidates not awaiting results must have uploaded A-level qualifications, O-level results and DE Registration Template at registration.
  • โœ“No candidate is allowed to register or upgrade to DE with awaiting O-level result status.
  • โœ“DE candidates will NOT be processed for admission until claimed results are uploaded and verified.
  • โœ“Candidates awaiting A-level results (IJMB/JUPEB/NABTEB) must upload their Admission Letter and Registration Template.
  • โœ“Applicants with pre-2020 Cambridge certificates must visit Cambridge directly for verification โ€” this may take up to 28 days.
  • โœ“Statement of results (in lieu of certificate) is accepted only within 3 years of date of award (NCE: 1 year only).
  • โœ“Awarding institutions are required to forward verification to JAMB before registration can be completed.
โš ๏ธ Upgrade from UTME to DE: This is available only to candidates whose A-level results had not been released at the point of UTME registration AND who indicated at registration that they were awaiting A-level results.

How to Check Your DE Clearance Status

Candidates are advised to constantly check their A-level admission status in their e-facility profile on the JAMB portal, where it will show either "CLEARED" or "NOT CLEARED" with reasons for non-clearance.

๐Ÿšจ Important Registration Rules: Candidates are NOT permitted to register more than once. Non-candidates including parents, guardians, or proxies are NOT allowed to transact on any candidate's profile. Sharing of passwords or profile codes with others makes the candidate liable for any alteration made.

How to File a JAMB Complaint Online โ€” Ticketing System Explained

JAMB has made it easier to resolve complaints through a free online ticketing system. Whether your issue is about NIN, Profile Code, or any other JAMB process โ€” here's exactly how to get help fast.

๐Ÿ“Œ Key Reminder: Complaints from third parties โ€” parents, guardians, or any proxy โ€” are merely noted. JAMB does not discuss candidates with others. Writing letters is NOT necessary. All complaints must go through the online ticketing system.

How to File a Complaint โ€” Step by Step

1
Visit jamb.gov.ng and click on Quicklinks at the top of the page.
2
Select Ticket/Support from the dropdown menu.
3
Enter your e-mail address registered with the Board.
4
Fill in your name, phone number, and describe the nature of your complaint.
5
Select a complaint area from the dropdown menu provided.
6
Attach any supporting documents if available, then submit your ticket.

Where to Buy JAMB e-PIN

The e-PIN outlets include: NIPOST, Banks, Mobile Money Operators (MMOs), Microfinance Banks (MFBs), and other participating financial institutions.

โœ… Steps to Pay for e-PIN: (a) Present your Profile Code and pay โ‚ฆ5,700 at any approved outlet.
(b) The e-PIN is then delivered via SMS directly to your unique registered phone number. No dictating or copying of code โ€” it is sent electronically.

Compulsory Disclosure of Previous Admission

All candidates are now required to disclose their admission (matriculation) status by indicating previous registration details at the point of registration. Any false or non-declaration of previous registration or matriculation will automatically invalidate the candidate's registration and previous admission. Having been previously admitted and wishing to change institutions is allowed โ€” but failure to disclose is an offence.

๐Ÿšจ Reminder: You are NOT allowed to register more than once. If you made an error during registration, seek correction from JAMB directly โ€” do NOT obtain a fresh application form, as duplication invalidates ALL applications.
